Each zoning district in the Town of West Sparta has normally allowed uses and 'Special Permit' uses. These uses are all listed in the Town of West Sparta Land Development Code. Normally allowed uses do not require any review by the Planning Board (although they may need permits such as a Building permits, Sign permits, or similar from the Town Code Enforcement officer). Special Permit uses are allowed uses that are subject to additional requirements designed to assure that the proposed use is in harmony with zoning and will not adversely affect the neighborhood if the requirements are met. A checklist is used by the Town Planning Board to make sure that the Special Use meets the requirements in the Town of West Sparta Land Development Code and other local laws. The permit is issued by the Town Code Enforcement / Zoning Enforcement officer based on the Planning Board review.
